A new chapter for House of Flint

I have some bittersweet news to share with you today. As many of you know, House of Flint has always been a made-to-order brand at its core. When I started this journey six years ago, I had very little experience in the fashion industry, but a strong desire to change things. I had multiple jobs to support my dream, bought a few metres of fabric, and started designing simple, adjustable, easy-wear garments - some of which are still part of our collection today!

Over the years, as our brand grew, so did I - I was pregnant, juggling parenting, and building this business from the ground up. Along the way, I brought on my first seamstress, then expanded to a small team: a production manager to oversee everything, along with a handful of freelancers who helped with sewing. And through it all, I kept my focus on running House of Flint as both a business and a brand. Recently, we explored scaling the business by working with a small UK manufacturer, and we've spent the last six months diving into this new approach.

However, things are shifting.

Our amazing production manager, Daisy, has decided to leave House of Flint and pursue her own creative endeavors. On a personal level, I’m incredibly sad to see her go, but I'm also excited to see what she will achieve in the future! That said, her departure has affected how House of Flint can continue.

After much reflection (and some tough financial projections), I've made the difficult decision to close the made-to-order side of House of Flint indefinitely. Daisy and I have worked together for years, building a system for our made-to-order production that would be impossible to replicate easily. Not only that, she lives three hours away, and most of our freelancers are local to her to help with collections and deliveries. Unfortunately, stepping into her role myself is simply not feasible, given my current responsibilities.

I know this is a challenging time, especially with so many small businesses navigating uncertain waters. But I’m committed to moving forward with our brand, and I’m incredibly grateful for your support over the years. Looking ahead, we will continue to collaborate with our trusted UK manufacturers to create small batches of clothing, and we’ll keep offering pre-orders, which will allow for some flexibility in colour, size, and length options.

After one last hurrah for our made-to-order collections, this chapter of House of Flint will come to a close. I’ll share more details on timing and how this transition will unfold soon. I truly appreciate your support over the years, and I hope you’ll continue to be part of the journey as we embrace this new chapter.

Thank you for being with us every step of the way.
